There's a mummy on my roof and she's NOT eating cake 'Mummy is on a diet. She eats lettuce, tomato and cheese. My Big brother eats peanut butter sandwiches. I eat honey sandwiches. The hippopotamus on our roof eats cake all the time.' Reading this children's book to my daughter recently and this particular page sparked a lot of thought inside of my head.

I have a lot of passion for what I do these days, coaching people through transforming their lives so I thought I would share where that passion comes from, what drives me to get up every morning at 4.30 am to help someone lift some weights or get their sweat on. Why I love what I do.

Why is transforming yourself like a flying a space rocket?

After the big decision to launch that initial push at liftoff requires a massive effort, the most amount of energy over the whole flight into space. Every engine on that rocket is going at 100% to break free from the gravity that holds the rocket in place. The middle part the flight to the stratosphere (the longest part) still requires

Is there a difference between nutrition for weight loss and a body transformation?

Yes there is a difference. Dieting for weight loss is basically starvation, the focus is on a large calorie deficit to lose weight. The principle follows the law of thermogenesis, calories in (eating) being less than the calories out (exercise), so if you are in a deficit you will burn fat for fuel. The major problem with this approach is that the body doesn't just use fat for fuel when on a severe calorie restricting diet as I will explain below.

I started training to rediscover my identity after dedicating 14 years to being mum…. The irony of it all, was that I discovered being ‘MUM’ was the best identity I could ever be. Our children love us no matter how we look, how many kilos we weigh, or how much chocolate we eat. They love us unconditionally. I often say to my clients to try and view themselves the way their children do.

What happens when you do what most people do in an effort to lose weight, restrict food and train hard everyday?

Sonia loves her Crossfit and used to train on average 7-9 times per week!

Hey how are you? Thanks for popping by, firstly I want to point out that 90% of diets work at losing weight.  Whoa I hear you say, a fitness centre telling me that diets do work? I'll come back to that in a minute.
I'm not going to bash diets, gyms, or expensive supplements, just explain WHY they consistently fail.

What do you notice in this picture of the Macksville Falcons U12 Girls touch football team? 11 talented young girls and 2 coaches. They are a great team competing in the NSW Junior State cup today but how did they get to be so good?
